The Altaf Mazid Youth Documentary Fellowship, is an initiative by Trending Now Media in association with the family members of Late Altaf Mazid to honour the legacy of the renowned documentary filmmaker. The fellowship aims to empower young and emerging documentary filmmakers by providing them with resources and mentorship in order to create impactful aGeneralnd thought-provoking documentaries on 'North East India'.

Eligibility

• This fund is open to documentary filmmakers, whether individuals or teams, wanting to make a compelling and unique documentaries.
• The theme of the documentary will exclusively focus on North East India. 
• Candidates must fall within the age range of 22 to 30 years.
• Previous filmmaking experience is preferred.
• The participant must hold Indian citizenship.

Subject

The proposal must have a unique and innovative theme related to the untold stories of North East India.

Funding Amount

The fellowship will include financial support worth Rs. 1 Lakh for the selected documentary project.

Application Process

Filmmakers need to mail the following documents for participation

• A project proposal, including a detailed synopsis (within 500 words)
• A separate page mentioning the work profile of the director with contact details, and details of other crew members (if any) citing their previous works.
• Identity proof of the director (Adhar/Passport/Voter ID/ or Driving License)
• A screenshot/receipt of the processing fee. 
• All the soft copies of the documents need to be submitted to trendingnowmedia@gmail.com

Selection Criteria

• Uniqueness of the theme (40%)
• Artistic and storytelling merit (30%)
• Feasibility and budget (20%)
• Potential for raising awareness (10%)

Other Rules & Regulations

• The fellowship will be allocated in stages, such as pre-production, production, and post-production, as outlined in the project proposal.
• Fellows will have access to mentorship from experienced documentary filmmakers and industry experts.
• Technical and logistical support will be provided to facilitate the production process.
• Fellows are required to provide regular updates on their project's progress, including financial reports and progress achieved.

Final Selection Process

•   After initial proposal review, shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to present their projects and engage in an interview with a   panel of experts.
•   The presentation and interview will play a significant role in the final selection of projects for funding.
•   The panel will evaluate the filmmakers' passion, vision, and ability to execute their proposed project effectively.
•   The final decision will be based on a combination of the proposal's merit, presentation, and interview. 
•   The Fellowship Committee will retain all rights of the completed film, with due credit to the fellow.
•   The fellow is responsible for permissions, copyrights, and legal clearances.
