Altaf Mazid Youth Documentary Fellowship 2025-26

We are pleased to announce the Altaf Mazid Youth Documentary Fellowship 2025–26, instituted in memory of eminent filmmaker and film scholar Altaf Mazid, with the aim of nurturing young documentary voices and encouraging meaningful storytelling from North East India.

Eligibility & Guidelines

· Open to Indian citizens aged 18–30 years(as on 31st October 2025).

· Students must provide a valid student ID card.

· Subject must be related to North East India (culture, people, society, history, environment, or related themes).

· Duration of the final film: 20–30 minutes.

· Fellowship amount: Up to ₹1,00,000, released in stages linked to project milestones.

· Application fee (non-refundable): ₹500 (General), ₹300 (Students).

· Last date of submission: 31st October 2025.

Proposal Requirements
Applicants must submit a detailed proposal report (PDF) that includes:

1. Summary of the Subject – concept, theme, and relevance.

2. Shooting Plan – locations, schedule, and approach.

3. Team Members’ Details – roles and prior experience (if any).

4. Budget Planning – itemized cost estimates.

5. Production Planning – workflow and timeline for completion.

In addition, please attach:

· Brief CV of the Director

· Previous filmography/work samples (if available).

· Valid ID proof (and student ID for student applicants).

Important Notes

· The Fellowship Committee will retain all rights of the completed film, with due credit to the fellow.

· The fellow is responsible for permissions, copyrights, and legal clearances.

· The selected fellow must complete the film within 12 months of the award.
